Let ideas
connect naturally

Lumen is a knowledge graph for connected thinking. Link each idea to multiple topics and keep notes, documents, audio, and web references together. Work offline on your computer, sync across devices, and let Dot help you find and organize what you know.

Example: Local first belongs to both Learning Rust and Second brain, and references Portable formatsRef.Learning RustTechSecond brainKnowledgeLocal first2 parentsWorks offlineChild ideasPortable formatsRelated idea
“Local first” belongs to two topics at once. No duplicates, no need to choose just one.

Beyond a tree

A traditional mind map gives each idea one place. Real knowledge often belongs to several topics. Lumen connects it with three kinds of relationships.

Child ideas

Break a topic into smaller ideas and explore it step by step.

Multiple parents

Place one idea under multiple topics. Edit it once and every view stays up to date.

Related

Connect ideas across topics with labels such as “reference”, “depends on”, or “next step”.

Keep sources beside your ideas

Markdown notes
Write task lists and [[idea links]]. Backlinks show which ideas refer to the current one.
Documents & excerpts
Read and search PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and text files. Excerpts keep a link to their source.
Audio
Keep recordings and audio with an idea, ready to play. Generate spoken examples from English content for review.
Web references
Keep articles and reference links beside an idea. Browse them by website or favorites in the resource library.
Tasks
See note tasks together in the task center. Check one off and its original note updates too.
